Orlando Bloom ALA READ poster brings adventure to the library
The American Library Association (ALA) is pleased to announce that Orlando Bloom, breakout star of the blockbuster Lord of the Rings movie trilogy, is the newest celebrity READ poster for January 2004. Orlando joins the famous READ series to advocate for libraries, literacy, and reading.
"New Line Cinemas generously arranged Orlando's appearance and their partnership with ALA Graphics has been extraordinary," says John Chrastka, sales coordinator for ALA Graphics. "We are proud to have Orlando Bloom's READ poster in this great literacy poster series."
As Legolas the elf prince of Mirkwood, Orlando has captured the heroic adventures in Middle Earth and has brought them to the library. America's newest heartthrob will have fans of the movies, as well as friends of libraries, enjoying this poster for years to come. While Orlando is not in character on the poster, he is holding a copy of the Lord of Rings. A bookmark version of the poster is also available.
Orlando's READ poster joins fellow Lord or the Rings trilogy cast members Liv Tyler, Arwen; Elijah Wood, Frodo; and Sir Ian McKellen, Gandalf.
The poster and bookmarks are currently available on the ALA Store Web page, www.alastore.ala.org, and will be featured in the Spring 2004 catalog, and in homes January 5, 2004.
